“In the early years of my artisic career drawing was my favorite media. Until today it plays a major role in my sketchbooks. With my growing interest in painting however, drawing retreated into the background. For quite some time – literally. The layers of paint in most of my paintings hide a charcoal sketch. During the initial moment it served to determine a new composition and later dissapeared. Usually much to my regret.
But in the last years a number of drawings have emerged, based on my desire to grant this beloved discipline it’s own autonomus space.”
